In Office Procedures

What are in-office procedures?

In-office procedures are a group of outpatient treatments. Outpatient treatments allow you to undergo anesthesia and receive complex care, but without staying in the hospital overnight.

Following an in-office procedure, you can return to most normal activities right away. However, depending on the extent of your procedure, you might need a friend or family member to drive you home.

What are some common in-office procedures?

The experienced team at Fernando Bueso, M.D., P.A. and Francisco J. Bueso, M.D. offer a variety of in-office procedures that fall into several subcategories. This includes:

In-office procedures for women’s health

The most common in-office procedures focus on women’s health. The team offers endometrial, cervical, and vaginal biopsies, loop electrosurgical excision procedure (LEEP), colposcopy, hysteroscopy, endometrial ablation with the Hydro ThermAblator System (HTA), and suction dilation and curettage (D&C).

Women can also receive in-office birth control, including intrauterine device (IUD) placement and treatment with Nexplanon®.

In-office procedures for skin care

Warts, skin tags, and moles can negatively affect your confidence and self-esteem. In some cases, they may also point to a more serious condition like skin cancer.

The providers at Fernando Bueso, M.D., P.A. and Francisco J. Bueso M.D. offer several in-office treatments for skin care, including lesion and skin tag removal, and skin biopsies. They also offer in-office treatment for painful ingrown toenails.

In-office procedures for pain management

If you have osteoarthritis or post-traumatic arthritis, or you experience a sports-related injury, it’s normal to experience joints swelling, stiffness, and irritation. If these aches and pains interfere with your ability to run errands, go to work, or stay physically active, you may benefit from steroid injections.

Steroid injections can treat joint and soft tissue pain. The results aren’t permanent, but they do provide relief for an average of three to four months.

In-office procedures for infants

The most common in-office procedure for infants is circumcision. This brief, outpatient surgery removes the foreskin from your son’s penis. There are many health benefits to circumcision, including improved hygiene and a decreased risk of penile cancer.

How long do in-office procedures take?

The length of time an in-office procedure takes depends on your health history and the treatment your provider selects. Most patients are in and out of the office within two or three hours. If you need to undergo general anesthesia, your treatment might take longer.
